Edrie Binegar

            Edrie Binegar, 92, of Archers Fork, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010, at 4:00 pm at Eagle Pointe in Parkersburg. 
            She was born on December 15, 1917, in Washington County, Ohio, to John Henry and Laura Jane Hupp Ward.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, gardening and animals.  Edrie attended Eddy’s Ridge Church of Christ.
            On September 21, 1934, she married Melvin Binegar who preceded her in death on October 17, 1999.  Edrie is survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter:  Lawrence Stanley (Rosa Lee) Binegar of Glendale, WV, Clyde Russell (Norma) Binegar of Williamstown, Johnny Raymond (Nancy) Binegar of Bells Run, Carollyn Flo Cochran of Archer Fork; 10 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Frank Leo Binegar, 3 children and on grandchild who died in infancy and 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Dorothy Marie Hesson

            Dorothy Marie Hesson, 89, of St. Marys, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at 6:15 pm at Pleasants Care Nursing Home in St. Marys.
            She was born on May 10, 1920, in Newport, a daughter to George and Hollie Burton Thomas.  Dorothy was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in St. Marys.  She was employed by Colin Anderson until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, walking and gardening and bearing witness for the Lord.
            She was married to Glen Hesson who preceded her in death on July3, 1968.  She is survived by 2 daughters and one son:  Kathryn McCullough, James R. Hesson and Martha Hesson all of  St. Marys, 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are 4 brothers and 1 sister:  Calvin, Bob, Delmer, and Wayne Thomas, and Mabel Hanes.
            In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter Glenda Hearn and 2 sisters and 2 brothers:  Betty Rawson, Esther Farnsworth, Earl Thomas and Harold Thomas.

Tony J. Allen

            Tony J. Allen, 62, of Marietta, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Ohio State University Hospital from complications after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
            He was born on May 31, 1947, in Evansville, Indiana, to James A. and Pearl J. Brooks Allen.   Tony was retired from oil and gas production industry.  He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, VFW Post 5108, American Legion Post 64, Masonic Lodge #1, and Marietta Shrine Club.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Infantry 4th ID, serving in Vietnam.  He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, having traveled to all continental U. S. states including Alaska twice.  He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially loved spending time with his grandsons.
            On May 12, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart Judy Rhodes who survives with their daughter Sarah (Jimmy) Bird of Marietta, 2 grandsons, Jesse and Justyn Bird, and his mother Pearl of Marietta.
            He was preceded in death by his father.
            Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (May 5th) at 11:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Don Archer officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites.  Masonic Services will be held at the funeral home at 8:00 pm,  Tuesday evening.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 pm with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.  On line condolences may be sent to the family at:  www.mslfuneralhome.com.

Sheila K. Goodwill

            Sheila K. Goodwill, 58, of Marietta, passed away at 9:20 am on Tuesday, April 27, 2010.
            She was born on September 5, 1951, in Parkersburg, a daughter of Argel and Roselene Adams Hinzman.  Sheila was a graduate of Parkersburg South High School.  She worked as a day care teacher until her illness would no longer allow her to continue.  She was a member of Family Worship Center in Reno.
            On June 12, 1971, she married Larry D. Goodwill who survives with 2 brothers and 1 sister:  Gary, Michael and Christina.
            She was preceded in death by 3 infant children and her father.
            Funeral services will be held on Saturday (May 1st) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Hall officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday  after 4:00 pm.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.  

Mary Lou Thompson

            Mrs. Mary Lou Thompson, 78, wife of Cecil B. Thompson of Oak Grove, died peacefully at home on Monday, April 26, 2010.
            She was born at Stanleyville on November 25,1931, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Edna (Grosklos) Born. For many years, Mary Lou and her husband owned The Colonial Quick Clean Laundromat on Seventh Street.  Some of her student patrons considered her their “mother away from home.”  She would take them under her wing and teach them how to do their laundry.  After selling their business, she worked at the Vienna Suede Shop and later in 1992 in an attempt to get closer to home, she became one of the first employees at Greene Street Auto Zone where she received numerous awards.
            On September 3,1948, she married Cecil Bernard Thompson who survives with three children: Merry Ann (Alan) Van Dyke of Marietta; Bernard (Janet) Thompson of Whipple; and Linda (Doug) Rowley of Parkersburg. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Born of Constitution and Helen Smith of Watertown. There are six grandchildren: Brent (Amanda) Van Dyke of Seattle, WA; Bryon (Becky) Thompson of Cutler, OH; Phillip (Katrina) of Whipple, OH; Lori Thompson (Joe) Cochran of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; and Stephen & Rebekah Rowley of Parkersburg, WV; and four great-grandchildren: Kyle and Kasey Thompson of Cutler, OH; and Jacob and Joshua Cochran of Egg Harbor Township, NJ. She also had two loving caregivers: Bonnie Laubert and Joyce Haney whom she loved dearly.
            Her husband, Cecil, was her main focus and the love of her life along with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
            She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother, Margaret (Harold) Moore; Alvena Born; Merna (Lew) Groves; Carolyn Joan Born; and William Born.
            Funeral services will be held on Friday (April 30th) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.  Burial in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call on Thursday after 2:00 pm with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. 

Robert R. Myers

            Robert R. Myers, 81, of Marietta, passed at 10:34 am on Monday, April 26, 2010, at Genesis Health & Rehab.
            He was born in Marietta on September 20, 1928, a son of Harry and Gladys Dawson Myers.  Bob  was a member of Painters Local 93, a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force serving during WWII, and a member of Moose and Eagles Lodges.
            On January 11, 1960, he married Mary Lou Morris who preceded him in death on September 17, 1980.   Bob is survived by 2 sons:  Chris (Betsy) Myers and Rob Myers both of Marietta; grandchildren:  Jackie (Greg) Meyer, Troy Myers, Kate Myers, Scott Myers; great grandchildren:  Brooke, Kindal, and Kiley Meyer and Delaney Myers.
            He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
            Funeral services will be held on Friday (April 30th) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Mike Ward officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military services.   Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday after 2:00 with family present from 2 to 4- and 6 to 8. 

Eva Mae West

            Eva Mae West, 85, of Marietta, was greeted in Heaven by her Savior and her parents on Sunday, April 25, 2010.
            She was born on August 13, 1924, in Charleston, WV, to William Ivy West and Edna Harris West.  Her family moved to Lowell in 1929.  She graduated from Lowell High School in 1942.  Following graduation, she went to work at Marietta Office Supply ((later Garrison-Brewer).  She retired in 1994 after 52 years.  Eva loved her accounting job and was very loyal to the Garrison family.  She was a member of the Marietta First Church of the Nazarene.  Her greatest happiness came from her family.  She attended all birthday parties, weddings, showers and graduation.  She hosted a family gathering in her home every Christmas Eve.  It was her favorite day of the year.
            Eva is survived by 2 brothers and 4 sisters:  William Cletis (Thelma) West of Marietta, Ronald (Cheryl) West of Marietta, Belva Strickland of Marietta, Frances (Kenneth) Carver of Marietta, Clara “Cricket” Hendershot of Newport, Dorothy Wittekind of Marietta; special friend,  Minnie Pfalzgraph of Marietta and numerous nieces and nephews, all who loved her dearly and considered her a second mom.
            She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law:  David Hendershot, Ted Strickland and Dwight Wittekind.
            Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (April 28th) at 1:00pm at Marietta First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Terry Schmelzenbach officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Tuesday after 3:00 with the family present from 3-5 and 6-8 and at the church one hour before the service. .
            Memorial contributions may be made in Eva’s name to the First Church of the Nazarene, 100 Millcreek Road, Marietta.

Bessie Jane Hoff Bohle

            Bessie Jane Hoff Bohle born February 24, 1917 passed April 22, 2010, was a longtime member of the Norwood United Methodist Church.
            Bessie was preceded in death by parents Harry Maxon and Julia (Weinstock) Hoff, husband William H Bohle, siblings Wilbur (Mildred) Hoff, Harold (Lucille) Hoff, Dollie (Taylor) Rice, Leona (Howard) Miller, Floyd (Lillian) Hoff, and Francis (Howard) Moran. She is survived by step children Robert (Suzanne) Bohle, William Bohle, Vivian (Mike) Lehan, Donna Fernandez, nieces and nephews Janet Hoff Bowles, Jeane (Robert) Highberger, Richard (Baunelle) Hoff, Floyd (Kathleen) Hoff, Terry (Andrea) Hoff, Harry (Sharon) Hoff, great nephews, Steven Bowles (and Archie, Arf, Arf), Thomas and Mark Kelly, Jim and Rich Hoff, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
            Bessie enjoyed her childhood on the family farm at Moss Run, Ohio. The family later moved to Marietta where she graduated from Marietta High School.  Early in her career Bessie was employed by the Marietta S.S. Kresge Store.  In the early 40’s, she headed to Columbus for a wartime job on the SB2C “Helldiver” assembly line at Curtiss-Wright.  After the war she became Head Cashier and Office Manager at the first (Lane Ave) Big Bear Store, where she remained until retirement. Longing for home, family and small town life, Bessie and beloved husband Bill, settled into their Lincoln Circle home, surrounded by the “best neighbors anyone could have”
            She is remembered as a dear friend to so many and for her great kindness and generosity
            Donations can be made to the Norwood United Methodist Church, 23 Colegate Drive Marietta, OH  or the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, Mt. Tom Rd., Marietta, OH, 45750, in lieu of flowers.
            The viewing will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, followed by a 1pm funeral service on Tuesday at the McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral  Home, 314 4th Street, Marietta, (740) 373-9232.  Burial will follow at the East Lawn Memorial Park, Marietta, Ohio.

Harold W. “Barney” Barnhart

            Harold W. “Barney”  Barnhart, 85, of Marietta, passed away at 12:15 pm on Friday, April 16, 2010, at Harmar Place.
            He was born on July 30, 1924, in Marietta a son of Thomas Barnhart and Phoba Hayes Barnhart.  Barney had been employed at Airolite Company retiring in 1997 after 50 years of service.  He was a member of the Sixth and Washington Streets Church of Christ and a veteran of  U.S. Army serving during WWII.
            Barney is survived by his only sister, Naomi Schneider of Marietta.
            He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers:  Bernard, Kenneth, Ronald and Allen Dean Barnhart and 6 sisters:  Ruth Weber, Thelma Smith, Wilda Miller and Grace, Anna and Margurite Barnhart.
            Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (April 20th) at 2:00 pm at Sixth and Washington Streets Church of Christ with Roger Rush officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors.  Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Monday after 2:00 pm and at the church on Wednesday one hour before the service. 

Harry A. Gray

          Harry A. Gray of Fleming, Ohio passed away Monday (April 12, 2010) at Marietta Memorial Hospital at 8:15 PM.
          He was born Jan 20, 1925 in Marietta son of the late Zadie Howard Trella and James Wesley Gray.
          He attended school in Marietta, Ohio and was a machinist and welder by trade. He retired from Pattin Manufacturing Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
          He was a pilot and avid flyer for most of his life. He enjoyed restoring and flying his private planes.           He enjoyed taking family members up and flying over area scenery.
          He was married to Dorothy Jean Jurden on October 1, 1943 who resides in Fleming, Ohio where they have lived the past 45 years.
          In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ball (Kenneth) of Waterford, Ohio; Donna Kern (Don) of Marietta; and Janet Greathouse (Steve) of Barlow, Ohio; and two sons Kenneth Gray (Theresa) of Mountain View, Arkansas; and Darren Gray of Veto, Ohio; 14 grand children and 18 great grandchildren.
          He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Frank Trella, one daughter Sue Ann Martin, and one infant grandson Kenneth Gray Jr.
          Funeral services will be held at McClure Schafer Lankford Funeral home at 11 AM on Friday (April 16).   Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Thursday April 15, 2010. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rights.

Margit Rabbene

          Margit Rabbene, 86, passed away at her home in Williamstown on Sunday evening, April 11, 2010.
          She is survived by her 3 children:  Michelle, Joseph and Mark Rabbene and their families.

Jeffrey Allen Parks

          Jeffrey Allen Parks, 34, of Marietta, passed away accidentally while working on his beloved family river lot on Friday, April 9, 2010.
          Jeff was born on March 2, 1976, in Marietta to his proud and loving parents, Daniel and Charlotte Parks.  He graduated from Marietta High School where he excelled at football and track gaining multiple varsity letters.  Jeff was an active member of District Counsel 53 Painters Local, where his talents and abilities were realized in the construction industry.
          Jeff is survived by his father Daniel Parks, mother Charlotte Parks and Al Young, his grandmothers, Mary Parks and Wilma Waterman, his cherished brothers, Todd Parks and his fiancé Shawndra Cox, William “Bill” Parks and his wife Jessie, and Jonathan Parks, several very close aunts, uncles and cousin, as well as a multitude of friends.
          Jeff was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Leonard Parks and David Waterman III, an aunt Judy Parks and uncle Barry Snyder.
          Jeff was a man who lived his life for the experience, not for the accumulation of material items.  Anyone that knew Jeff would say that above all, he had fun.  Tales of the stunts that Jeff pulled will forever surround the legacy of the man and will be recounted by his loved ones for the rest of their lives.  We can all rest assured that he took his last adventure, the one into the afterlife, with the same fearless attitude that he lived his life.  All that knew him, loved him.  Jeffery Allen Parks, a son, a brother and a friend.

Nancy I. Hasley

          Nancy I. Hasley, 94, of Marietta, passed away Friday morning, April 9, 2010, at Heartland of Marietta.
          She was born on December 7, 1915, in Washington County, Ohio, to Clark and Hazel Wright Dixon.  Nancy was a member of First Presbyterian Church and J. E. McCoy Rebecca Lodge.  She retired from the Washington County Treasurer’s office in 1980.
          On December 25, 1933, she married Thomas Frank Hasley who preceded her in death on July 14, 1992.  Nancy is survived by her daughter Ruth Ann Tebay of Williamstown, 4 grandchildren:  Jayne Tebay of Marietta, David (Cathy) Tebay of Columbus, Chuck Tebay of Marietta and Jill (Brent) Ash of Sistersville, WV; 2 great grandchildren, Brian Tebay of Columbus and Katie Ash of Sistersville.  Also surviving is one sister Dorothy Way and nephew Terry Way of Devola.
          In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 sister Genevieve Dixon and son-in-law Bruce Tebay.
          Funeral services will be held on Monday (April 12th) at 10:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 pm on Sunday. 

Wilma Jean Plaugher

          Wilma Jean Plaugher, 71, of Marietta, passed away at 12:38 am on Friday, April 9, 2010, at Selby General Hospital
          She was born on April 21, 1938.
          On December 18, 1955, she married Gilbert William Plaugher who preceded her in death.
 She is survived by their 4 children:  Daniel and Angie Plaugher, Donald and Janice Plaugher, Debra J. and Greg Frye, Dennis E. and Rebecca Plaugher; several  grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are  2 brothers and 2 sisters.
          In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by grandson Christopher W. Frye, grandson Jacob Tyler Plaugher and great grandson Damion William Frye.
The family would like to give a special acknowledgment to Mary and Matthew Benson with whom she was very close.
          Funeral services will be held on Monday (April 12th) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald Coy officiating.  Burial will be in Gravel Bank Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 pm on Sunday. 

Alta Athey Wright

          Alta Athey Wright, 88, of Marietta passed away Monday, April 5, 2010, at Harmar Place in Marietta.  She was born November 30, 1921, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Everett and Gertrude McKibben Athey, Sr.   She grew up and lived most of her life in Williamstown and graduated from Williamstown High School.  Alta was employed by the former S. S. Kresge Company from 1946 to 1970.
          On January 13, 1945, she married John Franklin Wright, Jr. who preceded her in death on June 14, 2003.
          Alta is survived by a daughter, Patty (Gene) Noe of Franklin Park, NJ, a grandson Kevin Noe of Canal Winchester, OH, a great granddaughter Alyssa Noe and a great grandson Hunter Noe also of Canal Winchester, one brother Wallace (Willa) Athey of Williamstown, a nephew Robert Athey who she raised in her home and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
          She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 sisters: Sara Thomas and JoAnn Athey, 2 brothers:  Everett Athey, Jr. and Kenneth Athey.
          A very special “thank you” to each and everyone at Harmar Place for the special care and love given to Alta.  Also a special “thank you” to her niece Peggy Thomas Yancey and a dear friend Gloria Huffman, both longtime employees of Harmar Place.
          At her request, there will be no calling hours and a graveside service will be held on Friday (April 9th) at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park.  McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
          Memorial contributions may be made in Alta’s name to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, P O Box 5, Marietta, OH for the love of her pets.

Linda Fay Lauer

          Linda Fay Lauer, 62, of Whipple, passed away at 10:44 pm on April 4, 2010, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
          She was born on June 23, 1947, in Virginia, to Johnson Oliver and Arvilla Lee Fleming.  Linda was a graduate of Williamstown High School with the Class of 1964.  She was a Corrections Officer at St. Mary’s Correctional Facility and loved her farm.
          On January 7, 1992, she married Lester Lauer who passed away on June 3, 1996. 
          Surviving are 2 sons:  Donald Hansen of Dallas, TX, and Dennis J. (Rhonda) Hansen of St Marys, WV; grandson Lucas Hansen, sisters:  Mary Stanley of Waverly and Carolyn (Gene) White of New England, WV; brother-in-law Gale Lauer of Whipple, and lifetime friend, Doreen Craig of Devola.
          She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Beulah Schreckengloss.
          Funeral services will be held 1 pm on Thursday (April 8th) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Nichols officiating.  Burial will be in Waxler Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening beginning at 4:00 pm with family present

Mildred I. Schario

            Mildred I. Bennett Schario, 89, of Marietta, passed away at 8:27 pm on Friday, April 2, 2010.
          She was born on March 29, 1921, in Marietta a daughter of Herbert and Pearl Miller Warden.  She had been employed at New System Bakery and later employed at First Settlement restaurant where she was affectionately known as “Millie”, retiring 2 years ago.  She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of VFW and enjoyed watching football, baseball, was an avid NASCAR Fan, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
          On January 26, 1946, she married Richard Schario who preceded her in death on July 18, 1968.
          Millie is survived by 1 son and 1 daughter:  Roger (Sherry) Schario of Marietta and Jeannie (Ron) Hebert of Warner; 4 grandchildren:  Angela (John) Flannery, Ryan Herbert, Kristina (Darren) Duskey, Travis Schario; 7 great grandchildren:  Meghan and Jacob Flannery, Logan, Aaron J. and Mason Hebert, Lauren and Alex Duskey.  She is also survived by 2 sisters, Elizabeth Warden of Marietta and Winifred Flowers of Williamstown, and 1 brother Robert Warden of Marietta.
          She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 grandchildren, Aaron Michael Hebert and Isaiah Roger Schario, 2 sisters, Marie Offenberger and Catherine Warden, 5 brothers:  Wilbur, Paul, Ralph, Corbett, Lowell  and Harold Warden.
          Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (April 7) at 1:30 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in Valley Cemetery.  Visitation begins at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8. 

Gloria Ann Harlow

            Gloria Ann Harlow, 63, of Marietta, passed away at her home at 10:00 am on Friday, April 2, 2010.
          She was born on July 30, 1946, in Watertown, Ohio, a daughter of Bayne and Dorothy Sparks Petty.  Gloria was a member of Open Door Baptist Church.  She was a bus driver for Warren Local Schools for 28 years and a former member of Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.  She was devoted to her grandchildren.
          On October 30, 1965, Gloria married Robert Harlow, Sr. who survives with 1 daughter and 3 sons:  Kimberly (Steven) Beckett of Vincent, Robert (Kelli) Harlow, Jr. of Frazeysburg, OH,  Michael (Tammy) Harlow, Sr. of Fleming and Kevin (Kim) Harlow of Vincent; 9 grandchildren: Joshua, Ashton and Reagan Beckett, Austin, Avery, Michael, Jr., Dustin, Bailey, and Aiden Harlow.
          She was preceded in death by her parents.
          Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (April 6th) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Kapple officiating.  Burial will be in Tunnel Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Monday with family present from 2-4 and 6-8. .
          Memorial contributions in Gloria’s memory are requested to Open Door Baptist Church.

Kimberly VanWey

          Kimberly Kay VanWey, 48, of Marietta, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 11:55 am at Heartland of Marietta.
          She was born on May 6, 1961, in Marietta, a daughter of Fred and Betty Bloomingdale Burton.  Kimberly was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1979.  She enjoyed her family and animals.
          On September 8, 2004, she married William “Bill” VanWey who survives with stepdaughter Amanda (Kent) Constable, step grandchildren Donavon and Kyleigh; brothers: Lloyd (Karen) Burton, Danny (Marilyn) Burton all of Marietta and Larry (Doretta) Burton of Williamstown; sisters-in-law:  Cheryl, Kathleen, Tammy and Lisa and several nieces and nephews.
          She was preceded in death by her parents.
          Funeral services will be held on Monday (April 5th) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Frary officiating.  Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 on Sunday with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.

Lawrence W. Ward

          Lawrence W. Ward, 81, of Fleming, passed away at 1:25 am on Friday, April 2, 2010, at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.
          He was born on March 20, 1928, in Lower Salem a son of Charles Franklin and Clara Blair Ward.  He had been employed at Elks Club and was a member.
          On January 13, 1951, he married Hazel Rubrake who survives with 5 sons:  Roger Lee Ward of Caldwell, Gary Dean (Dee) Ward of Statesville, NC, Tom William (Angie) Ward of Marietta, Steven Ray Ward and Randy Allen Ward both of Zanesville, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.
          He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Brian Don Ward and 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
          Graveside services will be held on Monday (April 5th) at 2:30 pm at Green Lawn Cemetery in Lowell.  McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. 

Orville R. VanKirk

            Orville R. VanKirk, 81, of Marietta, passed away at 6:36 am on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
            Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
